The Dinosaur

November 19, 2012

(Otherwise known as the rented construction lift)

Today is the last official work day for everyone's favorite schlepper, which the neighbors affectionately named The Dinosaur. (Others have less affectionate names... it does growl quite a bit.) This guy has seen a lot of use, by everyone who worked on the project. So much use that he started losing his cool a bit, dripping around the driveway, and had to get fixed a couple of times. Hope he's having a good vacation now.

It's easy to see the appeal. So much faster than moving a ladder every ten minutes as you move around installing the second floor window trim. So much less cajoling to get him to carry a handful of tons of material up a few dozen feet into the air. So much more stable to lean against as you drill a heavy flying timber into the underside of the roof (though with two guys on board, it did wiggle enough that it would have made *us* put down our power tools...)

Thanks, Dinosaur, for all of your help on this project!

like driving a boat from a waterski that's a lot of arrows! it's been a long hard 5 months sleeping Dinosaur
