Tubs have nine lives too.

Salvaging our bathtubs for the first and second floor

After years of vacancy, three different demo crews, and months of construction, our plumber thought we should probably check to see if we could find a reasonable bathtub under the layers of ick.

Shop vac, sponge bath, scrubbing bubbles, tilex, heat gun (for the paint and caulk), and barkeeper's friend (best on the rust spots, and final polish). Not all the stages are pictured here, but you get the idea. A short day's work saved us thousands in disposal fees, new tubs, and installation, and we're pretty sure it would take a lot of energy to even recycle these babies.

If you ever come stay with us and take a shower or bath, just don't think about the first photo. Enjoy the brilliant white surrounding you!
