The roof is back!

Long live the roof!

High-flying drama on Revell

This is definitely one of the most dramatic sequences of our project, as our roof disappeared and has now re-appeared. At first, as we peeled back the layers, it looked like we were never going to stop, and it would all come down. Then it started to look somewhat commercial with such a boxy shape. It held steady at two flat stories for long enough that our neighbors got used to the new smaller presence on the street, and thought it was 3' taller when the gable came back! (Well, it -is- about a foot taller.) Once Kevin dragged our pesky walls back into alignment (no easy task!) the gables popped up fully formed with their foam and all. Rafters are now much more organized than the jumble we started with, and are surely a much easier framework for the many new layers.

Maybe it's the relief of having a roof over our future heads (and all that beautiful flooring!), or maybe it's the welcome familiarity of the quintessential gable home shape, but this pasty white house all scabbed over with tarps and ice&water shield is starting to look happy again.
