Third Floor Deck

This budget-minded third-floor roof deck is the result of a close collaboration with one of our frequent contractors. By evaluating various approaches to the structure, we were able to save about a third of the early cost estimates. With such a small footprint, incremental material upgrades were minimal, allowing an elegant, natural wood palette in lieu of the cheapest plastic option. Upgrades to the staircase also improved safety without losing the diaphanous feeling of the original open-riser stair. The only outdoor space for this unit, it provides a sunny urban oasis.
