We were looking for an “As Is” house to renovate, and yes, we found a winner. It had been vacant for years, but most of the walls were straight, the basement was dry, and the floors were in good shape. The converted attic was a poor use of space and had damaged the roof structure, which gave us a blank-slate opportunity for a completely new layout.
As we learned more about our new-home-to-be, we found many extra projects hidden among these walls. National Grid also provided a boost to go above and beyond with our energy goals, in their pilot Deep Energy Retrofit program. We told some of the stories through construction on a blog here. This provided many opportunities to experiment with new techniques and materials, some of which we now use regularly for clients.
For more stories and construction photos, please browse through our project blog, sign up for open-house announcements, or drop us a line to come visit sometime. We love sharing our lessons learned as much as we can!
