Lakeside A-Frame

A young family found their dream of a lakeside cabin, but it came with many challenges, including a tightly constrained, very steep lot. A local pre-fab A-frame company proved very receptive to innovative interior layouts, so we spent a few evenings together sketching around the family’s dining room table, weaving cozy bedrooms and study nooks around gathering spaces for children and adults. The result is a cross between the playfulness of a treehouse and the elegance of a mountain lodge. The rustic exterior shell, superinsulated and open to the south and lake views, protects the fresh, scandanavian modern interior.
